Preparation

None.

What will we do?

In theory, we all know how good decisions work: gather evidence, update beliefs rationally, weigh options and act deliberately. But under time pressure, incomplete information and acute overload, this model often breaks down in practice. Instead, tunnel vision, paralyzing hierarchy barriers and seemingly coordinated chaos take over.

In this meetup I will show you how decision-making and communication work in high-risk environments. We will look at typical cognitive biases under acute stress and work out together which tools and strategies from crisis management can be put to concrete use to stay capable of acting under pressure in our own (working) lives.

Organization

You are worried you have nothing to contribute? No worries! Everyone is welcome!

There always is a mix of German and English speakers and we configure the discussion rounds so that everyone feels comfortable participating. The primary language is English.

This meetup will be hosted by Bettina.

There will be snacks and drinks.

We will go and get dinner after the meetup. Anyone who has time is welcome to join.

Location (Veranstaltungsraum, Haus des Engagements)
